WHAT’S ON THE PLATE OF WORDPRESS ?
Before moving further to eat from the plate of WordPress, I want to clear the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
People often ask me what is WordPress ? Is it a software or website WordPress.com ? and then what is WordPress.org ? Until now you have known that WordPress is a software for creating and building websites and blogs. Now you have to host this somewhere. So what WordPress.com does is that, it lets you sign up and create a website in WordPress. It will host and manage all hosting requirements without asking for a penny. And with WordPress.org you have to download WordPress software, build website and install on your own web server or wherever you want.
Now you will say WordPress.com is free so Why not use it rather than using WordPress.org ? Here I want to tell something which can change your opinion depending upon why you want to use WordPress. Using WordPress.com you lose the flexibility of building your piece of web art like think about your Domain Name. Your Domain Name will contain “WordPress.com” by default. You can’t edit the PHP code behind it. You also lose the flexibility to upload any custom themes or plugins. Also if you want to remove “WordPress.com” from your domain you have to pay for it and also they do offer different premium upgrade you have to pay for it.
MOVING FURTHER TO THE PLATE
In past WordPress used to be known as just a blogging platform. Now the whole scenario has changed, like you can create fully functional website and mobile applications using WordPress. You can develop different types of websites using WordPress like
